The Micromax A25 is an entry-level Android phone from Micromax which doesn’t have many features that are found in other Android smartphones. It doesn’t have 3G connectivity, proximity sensor and ambient light sensor. Essentially, the Micromax A25 is a vanila Android phone which comes only with the essential features. Likewise, it is also very cheap and is obviously the Everyman’s Android phone.
Screen and camera
The Micromax A25 comes with a 2.8 inch capacitive touchscreen. The screen is decent enough with good clarity. The 1.3 megapixel camera present in the phone is pretty basic. Do not expect too much from it.
Processor and memory
Despite being an entry-level phone, the Micromax A25 features a 1 GHz processor and 256 MB of RAM. The amount of memory seems insufficient but the phone still offers good performance. It also runs basic games without any lag.
Operating system and user interface
The Micromax A25 runs on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system featuring a slightly tweaked interface. On the home screen of the mobile, there are four non-movable icon shortcuts. However, you can add other shortcuts to the homepage because there is plenty of space. The user interface also has certain differences in the notification bar. All in all, the the UI is easy-to-use.
The Micromax A25 supports only 2G networks. However, it does come with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The lack of 3G connectivity should not be much of an issue if you do not require fast Internet browsing on your mobile phone.
The phone is powered by a 1280 mAh lithium ion battery which provides 4 hours of talktime and a good standby of around one day when it is fully recharged.
The micromax A 25 comes with standard multimedia features that are found on most Android phones. It comes with a 3.5 MM audio jack so that you can use generic headphones without any issue. The volume rocker is located next to the 3.5 mm jack. The built-in multimedia player supports most formats. But you can always install a better multimedia player if you wish to.
The Micromax A25 is very small and measures only 56 x 104.5 x 13 mm. It is also very lightweight at 102 grams. The small dimensions and low weight make the Micromax A25 an ideal choice if you’re looking for a compact phone.
If you are looking for an entry-level Android phone and 3G connectivity is not your concern, this phone is definitely a good option. It has a fast processor, 256 MB of memory and an 2.8 inch screen – these are good specs taking into consideration the cost of the phone. However, the phone does tend to crash sometimes. This is something that Micromax should be concentrating on. But that said, the phone is definitely worth the buy.
